I have been involved in health for as long as I can remember, starting off at the tender age of only three years old on a special fat free diet to assist my liver in regeneration. Although the diet limitations which also included no foods with colouring, flavouring and preservatives seemed harsh, especially at kids parties, I quickly learned what an important impact food has on your health.
Colleen’s HealthBeat is my way of sharing all that I have learned about health and diet in over seven decades, my favourite recipes, tips and secrets to encourage you to enjoy a healthy happy lifestyle.
So to kick off, I can tell you that I consumed animal products for over 30 years of my life, suffering from sinus, headaches, body pains and low energy. In 1985 I changed to a vegetarian diet and although I knew all about the negative effects of dairy products, I continued consuming them mostly I think because of the emotional link to milk and nurturing. Finally in 2012 I moved away from dairy products and can honestly say that I have never been healthier.
